Adele Cliff has two shows on at the Fringe and the Topical Early Late Show is a rapid rollicking fun run through the news both old and new. Its a riff on a classic US talk show, complete with a house band in the form of hilarious and highly energetic Katie Pritchard, and a clever sidekick in Will Davies.

The team write a new show every day, keeping it topical and connected to real life. There’s a lot of one-liners, some of them thinly stretched, but the tempo is fast enough that the stuff that doesn’t land can be quickly moved on from, and the comedians are happy to have a groan with the audience.

It’s a tiny performance space that just manages to contain the high energy of the whole ensemble, and there’s a genuinely funny and feel-good sing along so what’s not to love.
