Steven Phillips-Horst clearly knows what he’s talking about in this sharp and clever little play that skewers greenwashing, our corporate overlords, the point of advertising, and all of us trying to feel better as we career towards planetary destruction. He has worked as an advertising copywriter and it shows. He’s engaging and funny enough to hold a good sized room by himself for the whole hour, with only a handful of props. The landline phone is a nice touch, harking back to classic madmen ad territory, while hurtling us into a future we’re definitely not prepared for.

Phillips-Horst is currently a New York Magazine features writer and host of the cult podcast Celebrity Book Club. It’s not his first time at the Fringe, and he’s clearly comfortable and having a good time. The jokes are clever and thoughtful and the slide presentation takes the audience into all the worst work meetings everyone has ever been in. If the end of the world does end up getting a rebrand- this is definitely the guy!
