Launched last year by Australian tennis legend Ash Barty, the nationwide challenge encourages primary school students to pick up a racquet, get active and have fun with tennis.
Now, with entries closing on 28 September, it’s the final chance for schools to get involved.

Ash Barty kicked off the challenge with a visit to Brookfield Primary School in Brisbane, inspiring students to embrace tennis through creativity and play.
Since then, schools from every state have submitted a range of entries – and one lucky school will win a personal visit from Ash in Term 4.

Teachers can submit photos or videos of tennis equipment being used in fun and engaging ways– from simple ball skills to inventive tennis themed activities. Sample lesson plans are available on the challenge website to help schools get started.
Exciting prizes include Little Ash book resources for students and the school library, along with the chance to meet Ash and even have a hit on court with the three-time Grand Slam champion.
So far, more than 2805 primary schools have delivered tennis programs across Australia – and there’s still time to join them.

“Tennis has given me so much joy and opportunity and I want to share that with kids across the country,” Ash Barty said. “The Ash Barty Schools Challenge is about fun, participation and encouraging kids to get out there and play.
“My purpose, in everything I do, is to help young Australians to discover their passion and follow their dreams. I hope this challenge will help inspire more boys and girls to try tennis and fall in love with the sport like I did.
“I’m looking forward to seeing more entries and visiting the winning school later this year,” Barty said.
