Tim Minchin, the incomparable singer-songwriter, pianist, comedian, actor, musical-theatre composer-lyricist and soft-hearted provocateur, is thrilled to announce further dates to his ironically titled Australia tour, “Songs The World Will Never Hear”.

New dates have been added in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Perth. The tour marks the 20th anniversary of Dark Side, the hit show that changed the course of his career – and life – in 2005.

Audiences can expect an evening packed with unforgettable songs and stories, as Minchin looks back on how a Perth cabaret pianist ended up building one of the most eclectic and extraordinary careers in entertainment. Delivered with signature blend of razor-sharp wit, musical virtuosity, and disarming honesty, the set list will draw from three decades of unique songwriting.

From comedy classics to tear-jerking Christmas songs… from boobs to existentialism… from fast fingering to free will… there’s nothing quite like an evening in the company of Tim Minchin. The tour kicks off on October 31st 2025 at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre and will span 9 cities across Australia, including Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Minchin’s previous tours – “So F**king Rock, Ready for This?” and “Tim Minchin vs. The Orchestra” – garnered awards, critical acclaim and sold-out audiences worldwide. After a seven-year hiatus from touring, his triumphant 2019 return to the stage with “Back” captivated over 130,000 fans across the UK and Australia, with multiple sold-out performances.

Tim Minchin said,

“20 years ago, Dark Side took me from tiny cabaret rooms to the West End of London. In the years since then, I’ve pushed the boat out in as many directions as possible … and I’ve only been able to do so because of my fans. They’ve never flinched as I’ve turned corners and reinvented myself, always engaging open-heartedly with whatever I have to offer. I’m the luckiest artist on the planet and I can’t wait to be back touring my home country with a big joyous show, spanning my whole bloody mad career.”

About Tim Minchin

In addition to two decades of award-winning live performance and multiple recorded specials, Tim is the composer and lyricist of smash-hit stage musicals, Matilda and Groundhog Day. He is also a screenwriter (of the award-winning Upright, in which he stars alongside House of The Dragon’s Milly Alcock), and a screen actor, (Atticus Fetch in Californication, Friar Tuck in Robin Hood 2018, Darius Cracksworth in Disney’s The Artful Dodger). He is a public speaker, and a book of his commencement speeches, You Don’t Have to Have a Dream, was recently published by Penguin Random House. Stage roles include his acclaimed Judas in the 2014 UK / Australian Arena Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, and Rosencrantz in the Sydney Theatre Company’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. He is a voice actor, has published two children’s books and a graphic novel, and sometimes get into trouble for criticising fundamentalists of all stripes. His 2020 studio album, Apart Together, peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts. Among many accolades, he has won two Olivier Awards for Best Musical, a British Composers Award for Best Score, a Logie for Best Supporting Actor, an ACTAA for best TV comedy performance, an Edinburgh Comedy Award for best Newcomer, a Whats On Stage Award for Best Actor in a Musical, The Richard Dawkins Award for Science Communication, and an Order of Australia for Services to the Arts and the Community. He has been nominated for some Tonys and a Grammy.
