Amy Mifsud, or as she known in the music world, Betty, has been described as being dark soul, soul + funk, R&B, and a singer songwriter. Right now she’s most comfortable with a soul/ folk label, and she feels that the music she is putting out now is “the most authentic it’s ever been.” As she told Irresistible, “I’m definitely making my own basket.”
She may only be 25 years old, but throughout her already impressive career she has featured her own music, some heavyweight collaborations, and more than a handful of hits.

She’s become a favourite Sydney live act, and other bands, the likes of Barley Passable, The Land of Ra, Birds of Tokyo and Kobi Dee amongst plenty of others have been queuing up to get her writing and her vocals on one of their records. She’s born and bred in Sydney’s South but has been connected to the musician- heavy territory of the Inner West of the city since she was 20. She loves it there, and thrives off the creative energy.
Betty and her band have been performing together since 2020 and they were very much in their groove, with regular gigs, plenty of recording, and pushing the envelope creatively, when Covid happened.
The alchemy of being with other musicians and the live sets all stopped. She kept going though, committed to experimenting and growing at home, writing, collaborating, releasing singles when she could, finding her voice and carving out her territory in the unusual landscape of the pandemic that we all found ourselves in.
She’s emerged now feeling like “she’s much more herself,” and the music is to her much better. Closer to how she hears it in her own head. And it’s definitely getting results. She’s been featured on the taste- making radio station triple j, her latest collab with Barley Passable is a hit, and her shows are selling out across town. Tours are beckoning, and her new single “Devote” premiered at an intimate concert at the Low 302 bar in Sydney’s Surry Hills in early June. There’s an EP coming out in September, with the next one already lining up for February 2025. She announces all her gigs on Insta so follow her there, and catch her in an intimate venue while you still can!
